Anxiety and its Ever-Present Cloud

Anxiety is like that ex that just doesn’t want to let go, the 20s and pretty much the rest of your adult life have one thing in common, the pressure to be successful. Your definition of success is relevant here, but I liken the anxiety that comes with it to a cloud that follows you everywhere you go, and with each new cap you wear as you “adult,” it morphs and changes in intensity. Sometimes the cloud is light and airy and you don’t even notice it’s there, sometimes it’s dark and gloomy and it’s just that unsettling feeling you have as you move through your day, and sometimes it’s a thundering storm that captures you and just won’t seem to let you go!

The thing though, is sometimes you don’t realize just how many others around you are moving with their own personal clouds! Anxiety is an unfortunate common denominator, it comes in its waves, especially when you can’t just shake off the feeling that you can be doing more and any minute it could all come crashing down! But I invite you to sit down, pull out another chair across from you and confront what exactly your anxiety is trying to say, Do you need more support? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel you could actually be putting in more work? OR are you just exhausted of giving it your all and not getting anything back? Listen and see what little changes you can make in your day to day life to make life just a tad bit better.

I wish I could say you could use a magic wand and wish it away, but anxiety isn’t going anywhere. What you can do is get to know it a bit more, and be better prepared for when that cloud decides to juice up again. Listen to yourself and trust that your body and mind are on the other side of that table, ready to give you the feedback that could lead to your progress, they’re just waiting for you to join in the conversation.
